Allow me to Introduce myself
I published my first two books in 2019 under the pen name Leo Brown. It was a significant learning experience for someone who had never written or published a book. I didn’t have any expectations and didn’t know what to expect from myself or my supposed audience, I just knew I had a story, and I wanted to share it. I talk about this in my blog titled ‘10 Tips for New Self-Publishing Authors.’
Covid was a trying time for everyone, and for me, it was one of the reasons I stopped writing. When I finally began writing again, I wanted to rebrand and start over. As much as I am investing in myself, I do this simply because it is something that I thoroughly enjoy and want to share with others. Writing can be a very personal experience as I haven’t read a book yet where the author didn’t leave pieces of themselves hidden behind the characters that they write. On my YouTube channel, I share some of those experiences and more about myself and my books, as well as little pieces of my life as an author who is trying to juggle the daily routine of life.
My first joy in life is being a mother. As a mom of two boys, I am blessed with tons of weird smells, constant arguing, laughs, and frustrations from overly stimulating games that push their emotional control beyond the boundaries of any prepubescent child. At this point, my husband and I have been together since we were nineteen. I want to make it clear that despite the assumptions, my books aren’t a reflection of our relationship. However, there are some admiral traits of my hubby that I incorporate into my male protagonist. I am a cat person (surprise, surprise), but I am also a mom to an adopted mut that I saved from a kill shelter. Don’t be surprised if you hear him growling from underneath my desk in one of my videos, he is still learning how to share me with my husband.
I’ve worked in the medical field since I first started working at eighteen, spending the last ten years working as a medical laboratory scientist in the hospital. There were times that I loved it and other times, I hated it, but at the end of the day, taking care of people is what I do best. Despite that, I’ve been in school on and off longer than I’ve been with my husband, and one day, I hope to finally settle on a degree. It’s not likely because, honestly, there isn’t any job in the world I consider worth doing besides being a mom and writing my books. That is probably why I switch majors before finishing any degree.
Besides writing, I enjoy watching anime and silent car rides unless I am listening to audiobooks, lying in bed watching childhood cartoons from the early 90s, and how could I forget, above all of that, reading. My favorite authors are myself (naturally), Joe Hill, Brain Freeman, Stephen King, George Orwell, and Aldous Huxley. They have written some of the most intriguing, thought-provoking, mind-altering, and influential books I’ve ever read. For random pleasure, I take much delight in reading about Greek mythology. Metamorphosis is probably the reason why I enjoyed watching gameplay for God of War.
If this isn’t enough information, check out my videos on YouTube. Part of my constant and most wearisome responsibilities is maintaining my locs, which I do while I talk. Much like the audiobooks I listen to, you can throw those videos on and listen as you go about your daily life. But don’t take my word for it. Go check it out for yourself. If you made it this far in this bio, then you won’t be surprised at how long those videos are. I don’t know how to do things any other way because at the end of the day…
